Three-channel video installation with sound. Employs satellite imagery from east-central Iowa in site-responsive work installed for the Dubuque Museum of Art.
Ballast is a site-specific video installation which consists of a vertical column suspended over a reflecting platform. The platform reflects an image from a monitor mounted in the interior of the column which also contained the DVD player, speakers and other electronics. The sound was monitored from within the column. This installation was designed for the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Soundings is a single-channel video sculpture which consists of four vertical panel assemblies floated from the wall. There is a glass box with a charcoal and water suspension placed upon a gallery pedestal. A video monitor is inset in one of the openings of the panel assemblies. The sound is monitored from behind the sculpture.
Prone is a single-channel video installation employing a suspended television and found railroad-cart. The video monitor is harnessed by a series of ropes. Sound is monitored from the television itself. Viewers were suggested to participate by lying on the cart with the television poised directly above them. The video consisted of composited images of water, sky and land - although with the orientations and perspectives altered from their typical viewing stance.
