INFO

Final Wisdom I is an interactive installation engaging viewers in a sensory exploration of temporal and spatialized poetry. Participants manipulate imagery, sound and language through their gesture, touch and proximity. The work is engaged through a framework of cameras and sensors that react to heat, position, and capacitance – presenting a shifting environment of reactive media and haptics. Final Wisdom I is the work of artists Hans Breder and John Fillwalk, poetry by critic Donald Kuspit, music by composers Carlos Cuellar Brown and Jesse Allison.

Displaced Resonance Interactive Intermedia Installation This installation consists of sixteen sculpture forms, networked in a responsive grid controlling light and sound, based on visitor proximities. Full-range internal loudspeakers drive sound through the sculptures. A computer system using an infrared camera, tracks the movement of visitors and responds by controlling the distribution of sound to the tubes, while also controlling LED lighting associated with the sculptural forms.

INFO

[un]wired is a live-processing network visualizer that responds tointeractions from personal radio-frequency devices such as mobile phones, WiFi signals, Bluetooth signals, and car-key fobs. It tracks real-time statistical information from wireless access points designed for seamless handoff of moving wireless traffic, like a cell phone network), along with periodically updated information from hand-held and wireless access points. Control information is collected from network services via SQL and transferred into Max/MSP/Jitter. This work was produced by the Institute for Digital Intermedia Arts in the Center for Media Design and supported through the Office of Information Technology at Ball State University. In collaboration with programmer Jesse Allison and composer Keith Kothman.

INFO

A nine-part series cover times of day. Includes Oriens I, II, II; Meridian IV, V, VI; and Nox VII, VIII, IX. The series also interprets viewers gestures in the environment into flowing movements of various shapes and forms - much like the ocean currents cast seaweed. Movement colors, textures, and forms are shifted between passages in the series. Camera tracking follows motion in front of the display allowing for the direct influence of the composition. This large series of works is broken down into 3 set of passages based on time of day. The works rotate thoughout 3 compositions for morning, afternoon and evening. In collaboration with programmer Jesse Allison.
